William Pye Limited is a private family owned Small & Medium Enterprise (SME) that has been continuously trading for over 50 years.
We operate from our Head Office in Lancashire providing civil engineering and building construction services across the north of England and north Wales to both the Public and Private Sector customers that include some of the region’s leading companies, central and local government.
Our directly employed workforce of over 60 skilled staff and operatives receive continuing training and support to ensure that our customers receive a professionally delivered service to the highest standards of safety and quality.
HISTORY
William Pye Ltd was originally formed in 1958 as an agriculture engineering and landscaping contractor and has remained wholly owned and managed by the Pye family for over 50 years.
Following a period of sustained growth the family elected to register the business and in 1974 it became a Private Limited company.
William Pye Ltd currently employs over 60 people and operates across the North West of England from purpose built offices, plant yard and waste recycling center near Preston in Lancashire.
Under the leadership of its current Managing Director William Pye, the Company has invested heavily in staff training and management systems to ensure that it remains at the forefront of industry standards.

ISO 9001:2008
William Pye Limited’s Quality management Systems (QMS) has been regularly and rigorously assessed by NQA (a UKAS accredited assessor) and has been certified as complying with the requirements of ISO 9001:2008 the international standard for quality management.
Constructionline
Owned by the Department for Business Innovation & Skills (BIS) Constructionline is a contributor to the Rethinking Construction initiative. It is the UK’s register of pre-qualified construction contractors and consultants.
Achilles UVDB Verify
Achilles works to identify, qualify, evaluate and monitor suppliers on behalf of major organisations worldwide. UVDB Verify has been specifically designed for the UK Utility Sector and qualifies suppliers through assessment of Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) capabilities.
Contractors Health & Safety Assessment Scheme (CHAS)
CHAS is established as the market leader for health and safety pre-qualification in the UK. It is a non-commercial scheme available to suppliers and to organisations looking for suitably competent suppliers and a founder member and past Chair of Safety Schemes in Procurement – Competence Forum or SSIP.
Associations
Civil Engineering Contractors Association (CECA)
The Civil Engineering Contractors Association represents the interests of civil engineering contractors registered in the UK. It promotes the positive contribution that the civil engineering industry makes to the nation. The Industry is an integral part of the economy and CECA members construct and maintain national infrastructure which is fundamental to both the social and economic needs of the country.
British Safety Council
The British Safety Council is one of the world’s leading health, safety and environmental organizations. It is a membership organisation committed to providing services of the highest quality and value, whilst influencing and informing health and safety legislation, policy and debate.
With up to 10,000 members and subscribers in around 50 countries, it provides up-to-date and accurate information and guidance on health, safety and environmental issues.
British Association of Landscape Contractors (BALI)
The British Association of Landscape Industries was established in 1972 as the UK’s representative trade association for the landscaping sector. Membership comprises interior and exterior landscapers and designers, grounds maintenance contractors, and companies supplying industry-related products and services.
BALI membership is reassuringly difficult to achieve and the right to display the BALI logo is bestowed only after contractors, designers and suppliers have submitted to a rigorous vetting procedure and signed up to the Association’s Code of Conduct.
Contractors Plant hire Association (CPA)
The Construction Plant Hire Association membership comprises in excess of 1,500 companies, who jointly represent over 90% by turnover of all UK Construction Plant Hire. The CPA through its strong membership has a powerful voice within Industry and Government on all matters relating to construction and the hire of plant.
Members and are represented on various working committees. In collaboration with these committees, CPA conditions of hire have been created, together with improvements on Health and Safety and Training.
